Old Fourth Ward Park Arts FestivalIn my book, there can never be too many festivals in Atlanta.  So I was thrilled to see the info about a new one – the First Annual Old Fourth Ward Park Arts Festival happening, you guessed it, at the beautiful, new Historic Old Fourth Ward Park.

Here are the details.  The two-day festival, happening Saturday and Sunday, June 29 and 30, includes something for everyone – unique local art, a children’s play area, food, beer and wine, and live music.   Art is the primary focus of the festival, which will feature almost 200 painters, photographers, sculptors, glass blowers, and jewelers.  Attendees can enjoy musical entertainment both days from Neil Cribbs, Russell McLaughlin, Radio Birds and more.   Check out the festival’s Facebook page to keep up with the latest updates and preview some of the art you will see at the festival.

The festival also provides a great opportunity to see firsthand all the development that has been happening in this part of the city including the Atlanta BeltLine and Ponce City Market – both visible from the park.  That being said, we recommend making a day of it and checking out the whole area.  Before hitting the festival, grab a coffee at Dancing Goats Coffee Bar at Ponce City Market where you can see a model of what the former City Hall East will look like upon completion.  Spend some time at the festival and then mosey along the BeltLine until you reach Parish Market where you can make your own margarita or bloody mary while you people watch from their picnic tables set up right along the BeltLine path.  You’ll no doubt see lots of construction all over the area – including work on the apartments at 755 North – scheduled for completion in Spring of 2014.

There are some big things happening in our city, Atlanta.  Get out there and be part of the action.
